3D Studio Max Tips & Techniques

Instance Mirror
The human face is almost symetrical. Disecting a mesh into half and mirroring an instance (x-axis as the mirror axis) will provide a faster workflow when modeling a human head.

When you pull and tweak on the selected mesh, the other instance is updated.

Tips: The human face is almost symetrical BUT never symetrical. Symetrical forms makes organic forms look unnatural. Do not just mirror, tweak, and weld the 2 mirrored mesh together. Make sure you spend some time tweaking the welded mesh so that both sides do not look symetrical.
