After
packing few Mpeg files together, I tried to playback the packed file
but when it playing halfway through, the file became corrupted with
funny result. Is there a bug in Mpack?
No, it isn't a bug. There are 2 kinds of MPEG streams:
- ISO11172-1 streams "systems stream" which covers most
MPEG-1 multimedia videos and contains one video channel and one
audio channel multiplexed.
- ISO11172-2 streams "video-only stream" contains only
video streams and no audio.
Basically, you CAN pack Mpeg with different streams using Mpack but
it will NOT playback properly. However, there is a workaround
solution that we had found out during testing. You can try swapping
the sequence of your clips. Some mpegs generally play well after
they are swapped in sequence.
You can try using the Copy/b <Filename1> + <Filename2>
<Target Filename> and the result will be the same. If it
isn't, please submit a bug report to us.

When
I unpack a mpeg file, I can only view the first file and not the
others. Why is this so?
Mpack is a file joiner/splitter and does not handle mpeg
compression. Technically, the nature of mpeg files allows only the
file with the file header to be viewed. That means the second file
onwards, there is no mpeg compression that allows the file to be
viewed.

Why
is it that my system and program suddenly became so slow when i pack
or unpack files with the 'Ultra Fast' Transfer Rate option turn on?
The faster the Transfer Rate, the faster Mpack takes to perform a
packing or unpacking but higher the CPU resources are also being
taken up.
-
I
find that the 'Fast' Transfer Rate is faster than the 'Ultra Fast'
Transfer Rate. Why is this so?
Packing with 'Ultra Fast' Transfer Rate results in the usage of huge
amount of CPU resources. Mpack will become obviously
"temporarily retarted" despite the fact that it is
actually processing faster than the 'Fast' option. However, it is
wasting resources and time to pack or unpack a relatively small file
at 'Ultra Fast' Transfer Rate. In most case if the file is small, it
is actually faster to unpack it using the 'Slow' or 'Normal'
Transfer Rate to unpack that file. 'Ultra Fast' is recommended to be
used when working with huge files like 10mb and above.
-
Why
is it still so slow when I unpack files although I set Transfer Rate
to 'Fast' or 'Ultra Fast'?
The fastest transfer rate for unpacking a file is the Unpack Size
-
Can
I pack different unpack files from different files together?
Although you CAN pack different unpack files from different
files together using Mpack, it will NOT playback properly.
-
I
swear I clicked 'Unpack' and ALL the files are successfully unpacked
but i just can't find the files?
Check the 'Unpack To' Option. During unpacking, the
location of the unpacked file is determined by the 'Unpack Size'
option.

I've
a lot of files with long filename and the file list box is too
short...
Hold the mouse over the file and the full path will be
displayed.
-
I
hate clicking buttons to select files!
Drag and Drop then! Even from Windows Explorer.
-
What
is Custom FileType?
Custom FileType allows users to customize filetypes and
filter the files in the File listbox. You can add more than 1
Filetype at one time by using a comma as a separator. Example will
be a FileType named "Ordix" with filetype of *.odx +
*.htm + *.html. So the Description will be "Ordix",
FileType will be "*.odx,*.htm,*.html" without the quotes.
Then you just add the custom filetype to the current list using the
> button.

I
am looking for a software to combine Quicktime or Avi files. Can
Mpack do it?
NO! Mpack is a file joiner/splitter and do not handle ANY
form of video compression. The format of QT and AVI are different
from Mpeg and they CANNOT be displayed and viewed correctly through
binary joining.
-
What
about mp3? Can i join or split a mp3 file and still be able to
listen to them?
YES! You can split, join and change whatever sequence
u like and still be able to playback them without any problem.
-
Can
I pack files directly from Window Explorer?
YES! Right-clicking on the selected files and selecting "Pack
It..." will allow the packing of files from Window Explorer.

Did you download the VB Runtime after you had downloaded
the MPackWithoutVBRuntime version?
-
I

Are you running Windows 95 (ver.4.00.950) and below,
chances are Mpack would not work.

When
I unpack a MPEG file, I can view the first file without any
problems. But the player stops playing halfway while playing the 2nd
and subsequent files although the audio is still playing.
Mpack is a file joiner/splitter and do not handle mpeg
resquencing. The MPEG header is embedded to the 2nd and subsequent
files. You can generally play the MPEG if you turn off the audio.
Only Xing MPEG player supports playing such EMH splitted files.

Uninstall
Ordix Mpack still leaves trace of "Pack It..." in the
context menu. How to get rid of it?
There is an Unreg.exe in the installed directory of Ordix
Mpack. After you have run it, all Ordix Mpack information should be
gone unless you run the program again.
-
Packed
file freezes while playing halfway... I'm sure all my MPEG files are
of the same specifications.
The answer to this problem is not about how the mpg was
combined but rather on how the mpg was playbacked. Players like
Windows Media Player and Xing MPEG Player decode MPEG files differently.
You should try using different players to playback the packed file.
-
Help!!!

Please ensure that the version number of Ordix Mpack (Ordix
Mpack Pro or Ordix Mpack LE?) is correct and you did not include any
space carriages in your registration name or registration number.

The answer to this problem is not about how the mpg was
combined rather than how the mpg was playbacked. Players like
Windows Media Player and Xing MPEG Player decodes MPEG

the system. Some MPEG files might be using an MPEG2 codec or other
illegitimate MPEG1 stream. Installing a MPEG2 decoder might remedy
this problem.

Help!!! I can't get in my registration
number to work!
At the splash screen, there is a 'Register' button on the
right bottom of the window. Click 'Register' and key in your
registration information (note that this should not lead you to any
website). Please check that the version number of (Ordix Mpack Pro
or Ordix Mpack LE?) is correct and that you did not include any
space carriage in your registration name or registration
information. Also, your registration information is CASE sensitive.
You must also key in your registration information MANUALLY. DO NOT
copy and paste your registration information. If your registration
information still does not work, try keying in the registration
number, then the registration name.
