Summary

I'm a Graduate of Nanyang Polytechnic, Digital Media Design Diploma, Games Specialization.

I took up art classes as early as the age of 6 yrs old. However, it was when I entered high school when I realized that portrait is a skill that I really like to pick up. So since then, I used to spend most of my free time on portrait sketching. Also during my high school days, with the influence of my brother who was a Com-Science student at that time, I began to like programming. It was then that I took up my first programming language class, Turbo Pascal.

Finally my high school days were over and it was time to decide on what to study for my tertiary education. I was caught in a dilemma over to study Multimedia Software Engineering (programming) or Digital Media Design (art). Finally, I made up my mind and decided to step my foot into this unforeseen industry course... but I knew I made the right choice.

I really enjoy my days of tertiary life... where I got to know a lot of industrial people from all over the world and friends of the same interest and passion. The course really taught me a lot of fundamental that I've never ever thought that they are so important in art such as Life Drawing, Color Theory, Storyboarding, Character Design etc... The most valuable things I learn was not only the fundamentals but the classical animation rule.

5 yrs ago, I was introduced to 3D where I got so fascinated with ; Remember the time when Toy Story hit us here? Oh yes, but I was not captivated by Toy Story but I was so encaptivated with Kyoko Date, Japan(world?) first virtual idol! Ever since, I started to pick up 3D skill and decided my dream is to be able to publish a virtual idol in Singapore.

My first 3D software I learned was
3D Studio Max 1.0. I slowly improved my 3D skill over time and during my Tertiary 2nd yr, I was forced to learn SoftImage|3D. It was so hard to switch from a 3D Software to another, and not to say more from 3D Studio Max 2.0 to SoftImage|3D. Both software differs so much in the interface. At first, I really hated SoftImage|3D because its GUI is so badly designed. But after about few mths of switching, I began to realize the goods of this famous industrial 3D tool. I am proficient in both SoftImage|3D and 3D Studio Max.

Over these yrs, I've accumulated experience in 3D modeling and animation, especially 3D Anime which is a very rare skill in this region here. I've ample knowledge of classical animation rule (West) and japanimation (East) and I'm aware of the difference between them. I'm flexible in both type of animation style however I more prone to japanimation for some reason. Maybe it is because I grew up with manga and anime. Without them, I won't enjoy myself so much during my childhood.

Because I'm in Games Specialization during my senior yr of tertiary studies, I'm very experienced in low polygon modeling of characters for RealTime 3D games. Other than modeling, texturing is also part of my job to make the character looks good. All the textures of the characters I've build so far are created by me.

During my tertiary education, one of the electives which I took up was Full Motion Video (FMV) production. From it, I learnt how to do live life-footage shooting as well as video compositing. I do have a healthy interest in the utilization of the video camera work and actively apply them to the various cut scenes in my 3d work.

Beside being heavily involved in
2D/3D design, I've to manage my website (not homepage!) Ordix Interactive. No good webdesign can get away with merging art and technology. When state of art and technology merged, they formed an aura peak of state. That is why I always believe that good webdesign = art + programming. Apart from creative skills I possess, I've knowledge in web-programming using PERL and application programming. I've also released some freeware and shareware before. Refer to Ordix Appx.

I have finished my Masters in Computer Animation at Bournemouth University (UK) with distinction in Sept 2002.
